My 8 Favorite Nonalcoholic Drinks to Enjoy Any Night of the Week | Wit & Delight

My 8 Favorite Nonalcoholic Drinks to Enjoy Any Night of the Week | Wit & Delight

Best nonalcoholic drinks, including Nah from Bauhaus, Upside Dawn from Athletic Brewing, and Ghia apéritifMy 8 Favorite Nonalcoholic Drinks to Enjoy Any Night of the Week | Wit & Delight

After four months alcohol-free, I started my “soberish” chapter in early March. It began as unceremoniously as it ended—no dramatic moment, just a quiet shift. Since then, it’s been going well: a drink or two a week. Dinner parties now wrap up with one glass of wine, a feat I never thought possible.

What’s made this shift feel manageable is knowing why I want a drink when I do—and finding something else that gives me exactly what I was looking for. That part surprised me. Because I’ve realized, not drinking is actually easier than only sometimes drinking. Gray areas are squishy. And what I’ve learned in the squish is this: What I want when I crave a drink usually isn’t alcohol. It’s a moment to unwind. To relax. To savor something lovingly prepared.

Now, my favorite nonalcoholic drinks are staples in my house. I reach for them more often than wine. Going dry for four months taught me that the desire to drink was almost always a desire to treat myself, soften the day, and feel a little bit held. And it turns out, I can do all of that—without alcohol.

My 8 Favorite Nonalcoholic Drinks Right Now

If you are craving a cocktail, this is the best alternative I’ve found out there! I drank these through holiday parties and didn’t miss my beloved martinis once I found them.

Oh, my other beloved drink! I love all flavors of Ghia, but my favorites are the Sumac & Chili and Lime & Salt.

My friend Peder co-founded this NA brand, and it’s a gorgeous bottle worthy of dinner parties or special occasions. The main ingredient is pine tea (made from local white pine)—it’s spunky, fresh, and perfect in warm weather.

A genuinely delicious beer. I like the Upside Dawn Golden and Free Wave Hazy IPA.

I recently tried a sampler pack of these Minneapolis NA craft beers and would highly recommend it for hosting a party. There is something for everyone!

This is a solid light and fresh beer that is sold pretty much everywhere these days. It’s great with food and on a hot summer day.

I drink these when I crave sparkling water; they’re so good! I’m not big on sweet drinks, so this earthy, fizzy drink is a real thirst quencher. It also feels special, which is really what I’m looking for when I want a drink. Something that feels like a treat, a little break in the day-to-day.

8. Soda Water With Bitters and Lime

This is the drink I mix up for friends and family who aren’t into beer. It’s also what I make for myself when I want a drink after a long day and an NA beer just isn’t calling to me. I usually have all the ingredients on hand. Simply fill a glass with ice and soda water, add a dash or two of bitters, and squeeze in fresh lime juice to taste.
