In an approach as unusual as the film, Housefull 5 has emerged as the first Bollywood comedy to be released in two separate versions: Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B. The film hit theatres on June 6, 2025, and although both versions follow the same crazy storyline with the same star cast and all of the madness, the real twist lies in the last 15 – 20 minutes.
Yes, you read that right! The difference is in the climax – they both end with a completely different twist! The purpose here? To give fans a reason to watch the movie twice, and create a unique cinema experience that has never been done before in a Bollywood comedy.
One Story, Two Endings – But Viewers Are Confused
Although this clever gimmick is likely to increase curiosity (and ticket sales), it is creating quite a bit of confusion. Many cinemagoers have no idea which version they are watching as most advertise it as Housefull 5 rather than 5A or 5B. Some viewers found themselves watching the same ending twice unbeknownst to them and, for some viewers, even after reading this article, they still may not know there was a second version! Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared his perspective on the idea, stating it is “innovative but also risky” on social media. He explained that while the publicity may create excitement, the lack of clear messaging could misfire — leaving the audience confused.

A Bold Experiment or a Box Office Gamble?
Reactions across the industry appear to be split. Some people are applauding the daring move saying we see so little innovation in a stale commercial comedy genre right now. Others worry that poorly conceived marketing of the titles and messaging relating to them will create confusion and not deliver willing and prepared audiences to the box office.
The initial reviews suggest that they are both producing some of the same old Housefull hysteria; each to their brand of slightly different humor.
So, is one version better than the other? That’s for you to find out too. In part, the filmmakers are banking on impromptu calls and buzz to convince you to see their film an additional time.
